Week beginning 15-5-17

Year 3

Next week Y3 children will be starting their last SFA cycle. The children are looking forward to this.

In topic lessons the children will be exploring different art skills for our art focus topic. We will be learning how to print; creating our own templates on polystyrene tiles and experimenting with diluting paints. Also, we will be learning new clay skills so we can create 3D work for our Picture This! Project.

In maths we will be exploring 3D shapes by thinking about nets. This will build on our previous 2D knowledge.

Don’t forget children need outdoor PE kits in school with a sun hat in case of warm weather.

Year 4

This week Year 4 will be moving onto the study of symmetry in mathematics and exploring the concept through art and science. SFA starts this week so children will be starting new books and writing journeys. Our Macbeth rehearsals continue also, children are learning new theatre skills so keep visiting Twitter to see the latest pictures! We are starting to make props and costumes too.

In science we continue with the digestive system by examining what other animals eat and researching on the internet. If you work in the medical profession and would like to talk about your job to small groups of children then please contact any of the Year 4 teachers.

PE is on Monday as usual and 4O go swimming on Thursday afternoon.

Year 5

In maths, year 5 will be starting to look at rotation and reflection of different shapes.

We will be looking forward to starting our last SFA cycle of the year.
