Week beginning 22-5-17

Year 3

During the last week of this half term, Y3 will be expressing our Picture This! learning in a variety of ways. We have written some amazing creative writing about the picture and are are looking forward to publishing it with our neatest handwriting ready for display. 

In maths we will be extending our Geometry learning by exploring angles in 2D shapes as well as parallel, horizontal, vertical and perpendicular lines. Remember to learn those times table facts. 

In art lessons we are exploring clay, felting, water colour and ink work to create work for our Picture This display. 

Remember that Puppy Party Day is coming up in a few short weeks. Have you got your puppy ears at the ready?

Year 4

In the final week of this half term Year 4 will be reviewing their arithmetic skills with a short assessment and then moving on to position and co-ordinates in mathematics.
In SFA we are continuing with our new books and preparing our writing for publishing. In science we will have the pleasure of listening to parents and carers who work in the medical field to visit classes in order to talk about their work to help us with our Animals as Humans topic.
Our assembly to celebrate World Day for Cultural Diversity and we will be studying our chosen country and preparing work to show in assembly. We will be discussing casting for Macbeth and starting to practice lines, though children are reminded that this is a team effort and everyone will be involved.
PE is on Monday afternoon as usual and 4O are swimming on Thursday afternoon.

Year 5

In maths, year 5 will be developing our understanding of reflection and rotation
In the afternoons we will be focusing on art projects related to Bruegel’s picture of children’s games, ready for the forthcoming Picture This! exhibition. 
Maths homework – out on a Monday, to be returned on Thursday
English homework – out on a Thursday, to be returned on Tuesday
Please ensure spellings and times tables are practised ready for our weekly tests and regular reading is recorded in your child’s reading diary.
As always, please ensure PE kits are in school on a Monday.

Year 6

Next week we will be: continuing with our rehearsals for the end of year 6 production (you’re in for a colourful treat) Furthermore, we will be spending time focusing on writing within SFA. In addition, a number of our year 6 children will be spending three days in their capital city – observing British traditions and visiting famous landmarks.

Don’t forget:

-London visits take place next week and the first week back following the spring holiday.
