Week beginning 5-2-18

Year 3

Please don’t forget that next week will be a 4 day week with Friday being an INSET day. 

In maths we will be continuing to learn about time. In particular, we will be learning how to calculate differences between two different times and then apply this skill to solving word problems.

In science we have been learning about rocks and soils. Next week we will be learning how to carry out a fair test in order to investigate and name the different types of rocks according to their properties. 

Year 4

In the final week of this term Year 4 will be studying time, focusing on analogue, digital and 24 hour clock. They will continuing with the topic of ‘Raiders and Settlers’, focusing on what the Romans did for us and Boudicca’s rebellion. They will be writing rousing speeches!

PE is on Wednesday and 4J will be swimming on Monday afternoon.

Year 5

Next week in Year 5, our journey into space will continue with some fabulous opportunities to gaze into the galaxy. 

Understanding the orbiting process and the phases of the moon.

The difference between heliocentric and geocentric and the difficulties the godfathers of space had.

In maths, we will be continuing to develop our understanding of fractions and equivalence.

There will also be arithmetic assessments to gauge the pupils development.

In SPaG, we will be developing our use of punctuation, looking at modal verbs and advancing dictionary and thesaurus skills.

Year 6

Next week will be assessment week! We will be showing off our amazing arithmetic skills, remarkable reasoning abilities, radical reading techniques and our splendid SPaG knowledge. 

During our topic lessons, we will be completing our DT projects; cutting and sewing to create the perfect Tudor pouch.

Don’t forget:

– Practise your spellings and times tables in preparation for our weekly tests

– Recall all FDP facts

– PE kit should be in school on a Monday ready for our PE lesson on Thursday

– Remember to read often and complete your reading records
