Week beginning 5-6-17

Year 3

After the half term break, Y3 will be starting our new English based learning project – ‘Heroes and Villains’ This exciting topic will allow us to explore a range of different heroes and villains in literature both in history and more recent. We will be learning how to read for information; pick out key facts; ask and answer questions; skim and scan and how to structure answers in comprehension questions.

In writing lessons we will be learning how to describe characters as well as write settings for traditional tales. SPaG bootcamp will involve us embedding conjunctions by using them correctly in our writing. Also, we will continue to develop our inverted comma skills.

In numeracy lessons we will begin to explore ways of measuring using different equipment.

Our creative learning will still be based on Picture This. We have been working so hard to produce high quality work for this project. We will let you all know when you can view this display.

We are looking forward to seeing some amazing creative homework. Tweet us your masterpieces and preparations to the school’s Twitter account as we would love to see them.

Year 4

In the first week of our final half term together we will be introducing our new topic called ‘Playlist’. This is a music and science based theme where children will be composing music both with instruments and digitally using Garageband. The science aspect is that of ‘Sound’.

In mathematics we will be continuing with geometry, position and direction including understanding co-ordinates.

We will be continuing with SFA in literacy and PE will be on the usual day of Monday afternoon with 4O swimming on Thursday.
