Week beginning 2-7-18

Year 3

This week in year 3, we will be rounding up our Stone Age topic including an exciting afternoon watching a film by the creators of Wallace and Gromit. If you wish to bring a small, comfy cushion to use during this time, please bring these in on Wednesday.
The year 3 team have really enjoyed seeing all of your brilliant homework creations throughout the year. It would fantastic to see any creative homework you have made this half term so please remember to bring this in when you have completed it.

Year 4

This week Year 4 will be taking part in mathematics assessments, their final ones of the year to show what great progress they’ve made. There is no SFA this week so classes will be studying short stories, brushing up on their SPaG and completing  their writing portfolios.
In science they will be continuing with electricity, making electromagnets and discovering how electricity can be used to cover metals with a new metal!

Year 5

This week, Year 5 are looking forward to completing their science learning – exploring materials and their properties.  We will be continuing our learning about shapes and angles ready for our final assessment tests, when we will be able to show our progress over the year.  Our final SFA cycle has now finished, so we are looking forward to completing some writing within our own classes.  We will have P.E. on Monday, so make sure your kit is in school ready.  Children are still expected to be practising their spellings and times tables, as well as reading regularly.  There has been a marked drop in effort in home learning recently, so please can you encourage your child to continue practising at home.  As the beautiful weather continues, please ensure your child has sun cream (applied or to apply), hat and water bottle.
