Week beginning 23-4-18

Year 3

Next week we are continuing to learn more about our history topic on the Stone Age. We have already learnt about the concept of a timeline and will be learning about some of the main invaders and settlers in British history. Some of us will get to experience what it is like to produce cave paintings using interesting ingredients for paint and no brushes.
Our main focus for maths will be on shape and angles. We will learn about parallel and perpendicular lines along with identifying different types of angles.

Year 4

In the third week of this half term Year 4 will be moving onto identify different types of angles in mathematics and then identifying shapes. In SFA classes will be moving onto the writing aspect, which is a narrative and instructions. In science they will be studying different food types and looking at what makes a healthy diet. In computing they will be using Scratch to explore how shapes are constructed by applying their angle knowledge.
4S go swimming on Monday and all of Y4 have PE on Wednesday afternoon.

Year 5

Year 5 children will be spending a very exciting week on our Kingswood residential.  The children will be taking part in a range of exciting and challenging activities to develop their teamwork, perseverance and resilience.  They will also be developing their independence, including completely making their own bed!  The children that are not attending the residential will be taking part in their own exciting project with Mrs Davis.  These children will need to remember their P.E. kits.

While we are experiencing such lovely weather, can you please ensure your child has suitable sunscreen, a hat and a water bottle in school.

Year 6

Next week, we will be continuing to learn about pie charts and statistics- before moving on to algebra.
During SFA lessons we will be applying our reading skills to practise answering comprehension questions.
In SPaG lessons, we will be consolidating our understanding of SPaG terminology and we will be using SPaG.com to apply our understanding to test style questions.
After all of our hard revision, we will be enjoying some well-deserved downtime; where we will be showcasing our skills in other areas of the curriculum, including: art, sport and computing.

Don’t forget:
– Practise your spellings in preparation for our weekly tests
– Use TTRockstars to practise timestables
– Recall all FDP facts
– PE kit should be in school on a Monday ready for our PE lesson on Thursday
– Remember to read often and complete your reading records

Things we are looking forward to:
– Countdown to Sats
