Week beginning 3-7-17

Year 3

Next week Y3 children will begin the transition into Y4. On Tuesday they will visit their new classes for the full day. The year 3 children will be studying Jungle Book as their transition theme. 

In maths we will be learning how to interpret data from different types of graphs. Also, we will explore how to present data in a pictographs as well as bar charts. Remember to keep learning those times tables. 

In writing lessons we will begin to explore the story of Maleficent. We will be exploring the setting in detail and thinking about writing our own setting based in an enchanted forest. During SPaG lessons we are continuing to work on the rules of speech before our assessments next week. 

During creative lessons, we are exploring heroes and villains using a range of different media. 


Year 4

This week we will be continuing with our data handling in mathematics, focusing on line graphs and pie charts. We will also be revising number operations and starting to review our journey in maths this year. We are looking forward to transition on Tuesday and then continuing with our science topic  ‘Sound’ focusing on investigative work.

PE will be on Monday afternoon and swimming for 4O on Thursday as usual.

Year 5

In our maths lessons, we will be developing our learning of perimeter and beginning our learning on.

In topic we will be continuing our learning about mini-beasts.  We will be developing our understanding about life cycles and comparing them between species.

We are really looking forward to our transition day on Tuesday with our new class.

Please ensure spellings and times tables are practised ready for our weekly tests and regular reading is recorded in your child’s reading diary.
As always, please ensure PE kits are in school on a Monday ready for the week ahead.
