Year 3

Thank you to all Y3 for a great start to the juniors with your first half term completed and we hope you have a lovely break.

After half term we will be continuing to develop our understanding of multiplication and division in maths with more mental calculations and some practice using written methods.
Don’t forget over the half term that you can still use TT Rockstars to improve your times table skills and climb up the leader board!

Year 4

In the first week of the new half term, Year 4 will be delving deeper into multiplication and division, especially multiplying and dividing by 10, 100 and a 1000. They will be learning about Remembrance Day and the history surrounding it, reflecting on their learning through a range of activities.
In science children will be looking at animals in their local environment and learning why some animals hibernate.
PE is on Wednesday and 4AW will continue to swim on Thursday afternoon.

Year 5

Our learning in maths during first week back after half term will focus on multiplication and division.  We will be extending written methods to include dividing and multiplying by two digit numbers and using known multiplication facts to multiply and divide mentally.

In SFA, we will be consolidating our learning as we draw close to the end of this first cycle and demonstrating our skills in our final assessments.

Our learning about Egypt will continue through Design and Technology where we will be designing, making and evaluating shadufs.

Our thinking will also turn to Remembrance Day as we reflect on the sacrifice of others.

Year 6

On our return after the half term break, in maths we will be recapping the 4 operations and moving on to applying these skills to fractions; including:adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing fractions.
In SFA we will writing a non-chronological report based on an animal from the Rainforest. We will be using our research/notes to develop these into paragraphs.
As geographers, we will be continuing our learning about Rainforests. Including creating sock monkeys, classifying animals and learning all about Charles Darwin’s discoveries.
Don’t forget:
– Practise your spellings  in preparation for our weekly tests
– PE kit should be in school on a Monday ready for our PE lesson on Thursday
– Remember to read often and complete your reading records
– Use Times Table Rockstars to practise your multiplication/division facts
Things we are looking forward to:
– Returning back to school to continue our learning about rainforests.
– Visiting the Cenotaph in Bramley to pay our respects.
