Week beginning 7-5-18

Year 3

Next week our year 3’s are looking forward to going to Kingswood for their residential. There’s lots of great activities to do from the zip wire to nightline.
A few things to remember:
– a packed lunch and drink in a carrier bag
– come in non-uniform on Tuesday
– disco clothes
For the children not going, please remember a PE kit. We will be having fun creating some Tinga Tinga art on the computers in our Tech Lab

Year 4

In the fifth week of this half term Year 4 will be developing their understanding of symmetry through maths, art and design technology. In science they will be studying healthy eating and what the human body needs to function properly. In literacy children will be writing instructions for a healthy meal and continuing with their SFA text.

Swimming for 4S is on Monday afternoon and PE is on Wednesday afternoon.

Year 5

Next week, year five will be completing our learning on converting measures and applying our understanding to solve a range of word problems.  During our SFA lessons, all classes have begun their research into the continents in preparation for writing our non-chronological reports.  Children are enjoying our art lessons, with our focus being on pen work this week, as well as continuing our enquiry learning in geography to develop our knowledge about rivers.  We are also looking forward to beginning work with Mrs Pickerell on a mindfulness project.  Please remember P.E. kits should be in school on Monday and reading diaries are checked every Wednesday.

Year 6

Next week, we will be making our final preparations for SATs.

In maths, we will be applying our understanding – of all mathematical concepts- to answer reasoning questions. We will also be focusing on key areas including: 3D shapes and algebra.

During SFA lessons we will be continuing to apply our reading skills to practise answering comprehension questions.

In SPaG lessons, we will be consolidating our understanding of SPaG terminology and we will be using SPaG.com to apply our understanding to test style questions.

After all of our hard revision, we will be enjoying some well-deserved downtime; where we will be showcasing our skills in other areas of the curriculum, including: art, sport and computing.

Don’t forget:
– Practise your spellings in preparation for our weekly tests

– Use TTRockstars to practise timestables

– Recall all FDP facts

– PE kit should be in school on a Monday ready for our PE lesson on Thursday

– Remember to read often and complete your reading records

Things we are looking forward to:
